Our Commitment to Veterans

At DL Communications, we believe that military service is evidence of personal qualities that are worth fighting for in an employee. There is also something said for the ability to face and overcome the adversity experienced during service, which evolves into positive character.

DL Communications is a proud supporter of Australian military veterans and actively seeks to employ and support veterans. As a specialised IT SME with fewer than 20 employees, we value the leadership, discipline, and technical expertise ex-Defence personnel bring to our team.

Recruitment

We actively recruit veterans, recognising their skills in their core role and all the ancillary roles that Defence members perform, that may not be formal training qualifications or skills. Our practices include:

  • Inviting applicants to voluntarily disclose prior military service in applications.

  • Including “Veterans are encouraged to apply” in all job advertisements.

  • Providing extensive feedback for unsuccessful applicants, including advice on how to align military experience with Defence Industry roles.

Veteran-Friendly Recruitment Process

We understand that veterans may face challenges translating their military experience into civilian resumes. At DL Communications, we prioritise accessibility:

  • In-Person Interviews: We offer in-person interviews to veterans whenever feasible, regardless of resume quality, to assess skills directly.

  • Internal Military Expertise: Our team includes staff with military experience who understand your skills, so you don’t need to learn a new language to explain your expertise.

  • No LinkedIn Required: We do not require LinkedIn profiles, ensuring all veterans can apply easily, inspired by observed veteran-inclusive practices.

Support and Retention

  • Offering flexible work arrangements to support education, training or Reservist duties.

  • Commemorating Anzac Day and Remembrance Day with workplace events and paid leave for veteran staff.
